Dear Sir:
Israel's supporters have long pointed fingers in other directions for justice activism. June 4th's letter suggested China and Nigeria; earlier ones suggested Syria; before that it was Libya, and before that, Darfur -- in fact, this list goes back to Vietnam days. Unlike the other conflict zones, however, Canadians are obligated both legally and morally to focus on Palestine; legally because Canada is a signatory to the Fourth Geneva Convention and morally because our government actively supports the oppression.
As peacemakers on both sides point out, Israel's best option is to follow the governing laws, which call for equal rights for all human beings.
