Palestinian and Israeli partners are asking churches and Christians to categorically reject this plan.Take Action
Call or write to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Hon. François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and/or your local member of parliament and raise your concerns American Friends Service Committee (AFSC):
Trump’s “deal of the century” with Israel sustains apartheid and injustice for Palestinians . This is not a negotiation for peace, this is the imposition of change on Palestinians. But when Palestinians inevitably reject this plan, their rejection will be held up by Netanyahu and Trump as a reason for seizing even more control and furthering the repression faced by Palestinians. These proposals have to be based on equal rights and dignity. The plan “Peace-to-Prosperity” presented yesterday does not contain these conditions. It does not give dignity and rights to the Palestinians. It is to be considered a unilateral initiative, since it endorses almost all the demands of one side, the Israeli one, and its political agenda. On the other hand, this plan does not really take into considerations the just demands of the Palestinian people for their homeland, their rights and dignified life.

The Moderator's letter to the PM
The Moderator of The United Church of Canada, the Right Rev. Richard Bott, has written a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau urging Canada to maintain a principled policy position in accordance with international law, and to strongly oppose the United States’ Middle East “peace plan.”
You are invited to thank the Moderator for his letter. B'Tselem
There are many ways to end the occupation, but the only legitimate options are those based on equality and human rights for all. This is why the current plan which legitimizes, entrenches and even expands the scope of Israel’s human rights abuses, perpetuated now for over 52 years, is utterly unacceptable.
Patriarchs and Heads of Local Churches in Jerusalem
affirm our strong devotion to achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East based on the international legitimacy and the relevant UN resolutions and in a manner that guarantees security, peace, freedom and dignity to all of the peoples of the region.
We also call upon all Palestinian political parties, factions, and leaders to meet to discuss all disputes, end the state of internal conflict, terminate division, and adopt a unified stand towards concluding the state building based on plurality and democratic values. |
