Product List 1
Products that are made in Occupied Palestine
Note: While the United Church of Canada passed a motion this year calling for a boycott of products that originate in the illegal settlements, they have not yet prepared a list of items to boycott. The information below has been prepared by the Interfaith Peace Initiative using information from WhoProfits.org.
1) AHAVA COSMETICS
Ahava promises “Beauty Secrets from the Dead Sea.” But the real secrets it keeps are an ugly truth—its products actually come from stolen Palestinian natural resources in the Occupied Territory of the Palestinian West Bank, and are produced in the illegal settlement of Mitzpe Shalem. Dead Sea Laboratories is the private Israeli cosmetics corporation that makes these products. Ahava extracts the mud from occupied Palestinian territory, thereby exploiting Palestinian natural resources.
2) INTERSTAR TOYS
These are produced in the Barkan Industrial Zone, which is part of an illegal settlement in the West Bank. (sold at Toys R Us, Amazon, Muni Toys, others)
3) KETER PLASTIC PRODUCTS
Both Keter and its full subsidiary, Lipski, have factories in the Barkan industrial zone, which is a settlement in the occupied West Bank. (sold at Ace Hardware, Amazon.com, BJ's Wholesale, Costco, Home Depot, Menards, Lowe's, Orchard Supply Hardware, Sam's Club, Sears, Walmart, Wayfair, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, True Value Hardware, Northern Tools, PepBoys)
4) SODASTREAM
The main plant of this company that makes home beverage carbonating devices is in the industrial zone of Mishor Edomim, an illegal settlement in the West Bank. (sold widely at Bloomingdale’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Bon Ton, Crate & Barrel, Costco, HyVee, JC Penney, Kitchen Collection, Kohl’s, Le Gourmet Chef, Macy’s Meijer, Sears, Shopko, Staples, Sur la Table, Target, Williams-Sonoma, SkyMall, others)
5) Agrexco is Israel’s largest exporter of fresh agricultural produce, with annual sales of several hundred million dollars. Much of this produce comes from settlements in the Jordan Valley. Here in Canada, this company’s Jaffa brand oranges can sometimes be found in our grocery stores.
6) Israeli wine industry: all of the major Israeli wineries use grapes from occupied Palestine in their wines.
“God is busy doing a new thing. And God is using all of us to be partners with him. Both the Israelis and the Palestinians have to be liberated, but at this stage the greater onus is on the Israelis since they are the ones who are in power, economically, politically and militarily. We have to think about ways that will allow them to reflect deeply on what it is that they are doing and bring them back from the brink, not out of spite or revenge, but because we love them deeply.”
Archbishop-Emeritus Desmond Tutu
