Public Actions - November 2021
The last weekend of November marked the International Day in Solidarity with The Palestinian People and the start of advent. Through Canada, Stand up For Palestinian Children’s Rights, several events were organized across the country and engaged hundreds of people on justice for Palestinian children. We apologize if we missed some actions in this summary.
In Halifax, a small group braved the challenging weather to engage passers by educating them about how the Israeli military target and arrests Palestinian children. They also set up a Zatoun and information table at St Andrew's United Church.
Organizers engaged congregants at Trinity-St. Paul, Bathurst and Bloor St. United in Toronto, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Bowmanville and Bethune United in Baysville (Muskoka) about the plight of Palestinian children. People were encouraged to turn this knowledge into action and write their MPs to ask the Canadian government to appoint a Special Envoy.
In Oakville a group braved the snow with placards and a candle light vigil remembering those children who perished in Gaza this year from Israeli air raids.
Over seventy people gathered at both the Waterloo and Winnipeg events and drew media attention. Palestinian speakers gave powerful testimony at the Waterloo event. Read the media coverage here from Winnipeg CBC and Waterloo The Record.
In Saskatchewan, a group set up an information table during the screening of RoadMap to Apartheid film at a local cinema.
Four events took place on Vancouver Island at Victoria, Duncan, Nanaimo and Parksville. Some staged their public action outside their MP’s offices. Many of the events that took place included local Jewish activist groups.

We are still verifying how many MPs have signed on to the commitment to be advocates for a special envoy. People in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody are actively pursuing the request for a special envoy with their two MPs.
